Art of Avadhana

SRC organised a National Semnar on ‘The Art of Avadhana’ on 2nd and 3rd of March 2002 in Bangalore.
Avadhanis, Shatavadhanis and Sahasravadhanis’ from different southern states participated.
Dr. K. Shivarama Karanth’s contribution to Yakshagana

A national seminar on Dr. K. Shivarama Karanth’s contribution was in collaboration with the Sahitya Akademi (SRO) held on August 27, 2002. The papers presented by well-known scholars dealt with Karanth’s contribution to Yakshagana music, choreography, composers, costumes, and his experiments.
Pandarika
Vitthalotsava

A seminar and cultural festival was held on the contributions of Pandarika Vitthala to Indian art and culture on Oct. 3, 4, and 5, 2002.
Pandarika Vitthalotsava highlighted the varied aspects of dance and music both at the theoritical and practical levels. Discussions on the treatises authored by Pandarika along with practical demonstration by popular artistes were held. The highlight of the festival was the celebration at Sathnur, the birth place of Pandarika. Report of the event is published in Vihangama - Nov-Dec. 2002
Rangollasa

The Rangollasa, a traditional theatre festival, was organised at Bangalore 12-16, 2003. Artistes from four Southern states presented performances. Each performance was followed by a discussion. The details and photos of the prgramme can be viewed under EVENTS. The Media unit of IGNCA documented the episodes and telecasted on DD Bharati. Report of the event published in Vinhangama-2004
