DHULA BHIL ARTIST of RAJASTHAN Phula Pargi’s son, Dhula, portrays a range of emotions through his animal figures. In his paintings, horses and elephants seem annoyed with humans for making them labour day after day. The tiger in Dhula Pargi’s paintings is not ferocious, but appears rather emaciated. Dhula’s lines are sharp, and his characters are alive. When we look at his paintings of the drummers, Madaliya and Tarapiya, we can almost feel and hear their pulsating rhythm. And we get the same sense of movement in the body of the camels in his paintings.
